The 6 Main Types of Bucket for Diggers
The six main types of digger buckets available are as follows:
General Purpose Digger Buckets
General purpose digger buckets have been designed for the majority of tasks around a building site or other service areas such as mines and storage yards such as owned by council road surface maintenance departments where loose materials are kept. General purpose digger buckets usually have teeth which aid the quick loading of materials.Ditch Maintenance Digger Buckets
Digger buckets designed for maintaining drainage around farmland or recreational areas are known as ditch maintenance buckets and come with holes which allow liquids to escape as loads are lifted in turn reducing the energy required for operational use and also making sure that the drainage water stays in put.Such maintenance is required when blockages are identified and the drainage ditches need clearing out. Materials which need to be removed can range from mud, soil, tree branches as well as waste which may have been dumped by local residents, so these types of digger buckets need to be robust and able to take a knock or two.
Ribbed Digger Buckets
Ribbed digger buckets are best suited to excavators with backhoe assembly. These types of digger drag the ribbed bucket along the ground as its outsides edges are fitted with wear strips giving it a ribbed effect and making it good at gripping all kinds of material. The individual ribbed parts can easily be replaced to lengthen the lifespan of this type of digger bucket.Dedicated Digger Buckets
Dedicated digger buckets are used with backhoe loaders and small excavators, they are also fitted with teeth for extra grip and the side panels can be attached and replaced with new ones.Grading Digger Buckets
Grading digger buckets have sharp edges and no teeth which makes them most suited for carving up terrain when landscaping is required once the holes have been filler in and the area needs to be put back as it was previously. The shape of this type of digger bucket enables it to stand up-right whilst not in-use allowing it to be re-attached more easily than other buckets.
Re-handling Digger Buckets
Re-handing buckets are typically used for loading materials into other transport vehicles or storage areas and are used for loose loads such as soil and silage in agricultural environments.Re handing digger buckets are designed so as not to allow loose material to leak out the back of the bucket during transit. Also they can be fitted with curved backs which can stop material getting lodged in the corners.
